Proteasome Function in Lung Disease
- Our research team investigates whether and how cigarette smoke alters the ability of the lung cells to efficiently degrade cellular proteins by the proteasome. This might result in an altered immune response which eventually contributes to chronic lung disease.
- In transgenic animal models we are investigating the causal role of impaired proteasome function for the development of chronic lung diseases.
